Family-related disputes can be messy, painful, and overwhelming. Most people don’t know where to start.
From divorce to financial agreements, parenting arrangements to property settlement, our multi-faceted expertise in family law can help you figure out what’s happening, what you need to do, and how you can do it lawfully with minimal disruption.
In an initial free half-hour session, you can tell us your needs, and we’ll then take you through some non-obligatory options for your consideration – whilst also ensuring that no legal deadlines are missed.
We’re here not only to provide a place to start, but to also help lay the foundations for your new beginnings.
Separation & Divorce
Getting a divorce is never easy. In addition to the emotional grief felt by many, there may also be a house to sort, children to consider, finances to work out.
As a holistic law firm, we can tap into these other areas of law – family or commercial – that straight-out family lawyers may not be able to do. This means we can identify the right steps for whatever situation you may be facing, and help guide you through the whole process.
We want the same as you – to achieve the best outcomes for your personal situation, with minimal impact to yourself and any others involved.
Parenting Arrangements
It can be a very distressing time for children when parents split or, for whatever reason, they are acquiring new guardians.
The legal process for such issues is similar across all family law businesses. At Archer & Sapounztis Lawyers, however, we take a personal, tailored approach for each of our clients. We listen to your individual wishes and understanding any other agreements that may be in place (made possible by our multi-faceted legal knowledge), and then we guide you through the legal process to achieve the right outcomes for all – especially the children.
We can help with preparing parenting plans or orders, always with the child’s best interests at heart.
We genuinely care, and our key aims remain the same: to identify the best solution for all, to protect children’s’ interests, and to minimise the final agreement’s impact on the children.
Binding Financial Agreements
If you plan to get married or are entering into a de-facto relationship, you may want to consider a Binding Financial Agreement.
Binding Financial Agreements, or ‘pre-nuptial’ agreements, help determine ownership of property and assets, and decipher how things like superannuation and liabilities will be divided in the case of separation (de facto) or divorce.
Binding Financial Agreements can also be drawn up during or after a marriage, although if the latter, they must be made within 12 months of the divorce order.
Also worth noting is that certain ownership arrangements may already be bound within a financial or other agreement that you already have in place.
Here at Archer & Sapounztis Lawyers, our expertise is spread across a wide variety of family and commercial law, so we take a holistic approach to helping you sort all the required agreements so that they work in unison – saving you potential stress, confusion, and time.
Property Settlements
For most divorces or separation, property can be part of the negotiation mix. Whether it is the family home or investment properties, property settlement can be complex and frustrating.
Our comprehensive approach to delivering legal services helps ensure that all aspects of the property settlement have been considered, leaving you feeling confident, not concerned.
